In Amsterdam East Quarter some ten years ago, the municipality gave a building to this neighbourhood. The Meevaart since then is a breeding ground for social initiatives for the neighbourhood. And the Meevaart has adopted a sociocratic decission making. It has an ear for minorities with a pressing say. In this way the building is used for peoples initiatives with theatre, kitchen and workgroups.
